Why This Album?

This album was inspired by the book “Voices of Vets” and the work of Veterans for Peace (www.veteransforpeace.org). Thanks also to Dan Shea, Debbie Wager (CD and web design/typography) and the artists who have contributed their work to this album.

I am lucky to have never been involved in combat, but I have spent years singing for veterans’ and nursing homes and getting to know veterans from WWII, Korea, Vietnam and now our most recent wars. Their struggle to live happy, peaceful and productive lives in the aftermath of service to our country, and the horrors of war, has inspired much of my recent work. I also wish to dedicate this CD to Julius Margolin and Bruce “Utah” Phillips, two veterans who gave so much to the struggle for peace and justice, and taught me and many more who followed them about history and standing up to power.

Lyrics, links and more info about the CD and other efforts to help returning veterans and their families can be found at www.veteransforpeace.org. The Welcome Home Project (www.thewelcomehomeproject.org) also lists contact information and resources for veterans and their families.
